the discussion about the lack of yg fics in the last part made me remember that exo had a lot of fics even during their teaser era lol. winner and ikon had their own shows, but they still don't have a lot of fics. even the shipping feels less intense to me. are yg groups just too sweg and ugly to be shipped and fantasized about?👀

like i said i think ikon is gonna be the one that gets fic. i don't follow them/haven't checked their fic comm so i don't know how much there is right now but i'm already seeing more fic being linked/recced than i've ever seen for winner, or any other yg group for that matter (besides bigbang back in the day)

i don't read fics too but it's pretty interesting to me considering that even "nugus" get lots of fics (or at least that's what i see from the nugumeme)

i know that they have a big fandom. my friend who's active in the fandoms in my country says that bts has one of the biggest fandoms rn and they're really popular among younger fans

idk what it is tbh but it's happening in kfen and ifen. idk why ikon over other boy groups (maybe just bc big 3 + more hype and budget than got7), but i guess it makes sense that it's ikon and not winner since winner is kind of marketed older/mature/'boring'?

dda as someone who's not into fics, winner and the fandom are perfect for me. i like the music; the fandom, intense they may be, love all the members; and the members are fun to stan because they're great in variety and i like reading their interviews

to a degree it might also be the emotional investment generated, like say what u will about yg's survival show strategy but it's pretty effective in fostering attachment lol

personally for me also ikon are also v easy to ship and fictionalize and i have a lot of fun chatting fic scenarios w/ friends about them etc

+1 ikon reminds me of bts in that they poach a LOT of fans from exo, including a large group of writers

yeah i think now all fandoms are kinda lacking fic except exo, but i feel like before it was pretty even minus yg? i mean bb still got fic but it didn't seem like as much compared to sme groups or 2pm

da i write for got7 every now and then but honestly the lack of goodfic makes it hard for me to anchor my headcanon of them to other fic and honestly one of the ways i'm most inspired to write fic is by reading other people's ideas of them

maybe i'm just picky, but a lot of fic is just hard to get into when their ideas/headcanons differ so much from my own
